The 4Images Gallery is a free and easy to use image sharing application availible to anyone who wants to use it.
First Time?
This will help you start your image sharing experience with 4Images Gallery.
1. From the McNeal HQ main page, click on the link that says "Image Sharing"
2. This will bring you to the 4Images Gallery
main page, it should display 3 pictures of familiar people.
At this point you can just browse the pictures and write comments on them,
and even use them as eCards.
3. Under the feilds were you enter your username and password to log in, there is a little link that says "Registration", click it.
4. Please read the "Terms of Registration"
and if you agree to comply with them, click agree. If you do not agree with
the terms,
then you cannot upload your own pictures, or download others pictures, you
can only browse through them.
5. In the feild, "User Name", type in your real name (First name only), any users without their real names entered will be deleted.
6. In the "Password" feild, type in your desired password for your account.
7. In the "Email" feild, type in
your @mcnealfamily.net email address I've given you.
If have not received your own email address through mcnealfamily.net yet,
please email me and tell me so.
8. Click the "Submit" button if all of the information is correct, if it is not, change it or hit the "Reset" button to start over.
9. You will then be at a page that says: "You are now registered. You'll shortly receive an email with your activation code."
10. Check your email for the login information,
once you've received the information,
you will be able to log in during your next visit of the McNeal HQ 4Images
Gallery site.
Logging In and Uploading Pictures
Now that you have succesfully registered with the 4Images Gallery at McNeal HQ, you can begin to download pictures, upload pictures (that is, to put pictures up on the site), as well as other new things.
1. When at the main page for 4Images Gallery, enter in your login information in the feilds at the left side of the page, and click "Login".
2. A similar page will come back up, however the login feilds will be replaced with the links: "Lightbox", "Control Panel", and "Logout".
3. From this main page you can change your account information by clicking on "Control Panel", you can log out by clicking "Log Out", or you can continue to browse pictures like you have before, only now you have more options when you click on a picture.
To upload your own pictures follow these steps:
1. At the bottom of the main page (after you've logged in), there is a drop-down menu that currently says "Select Category". Click on this menu and select which category your picture belongs in.
2. A new page will load showing 9 (by default) pictures from that category. In the upper part of the page, there is a button that says "Upload", click that button.
3. A new page will load, titled "Upload Image". Start at the top of the form and fill out the nescessary information.
- "Image File" -
If the image you want to put up is on your computer: Select
the picture you want to put up, by hitting the browse button.
If the image you want to put up is on another webpage somewhere else:
Under the first feild type in the address of that picture.
- "Thumbnail File" - A thumbnail is the smaller picture
it shows when you're browsing through multiple pictures. You click on the
thumbnail to see the bigger version.
If the image you want to use as your thumbnail is on your computer:
Select the picture you want to put up, by hitting the browse button.
If the image you want to put up is on another webpage somewhere else:
Under the first feild type in the address of that picture.
- "Image Name" -
This does not have to be the file name, this is the name it will show up with
on the site when people view your picture. You must fill this in.
- "Description" -
A caption that appears at the bottom of the page with the other information
on the picture when people click on your picture. This is not mandatory, it's
up to you.
- "Keywords" -
When somebody types one of these words in the search feild it will show your
picture as a respnse. I ask that you include everybody's name that is in the
picture, any additional keywords are not mandatory. Multiple words
are seperated by a space.
4. When you have completed the form, click submit, or reset to start the form over.
5. If the upload was succesful, a page will load showing the picture you uploaded. Your picture is now under the category you selected in step 1.
Repeat for additional pictures.
If you have pictures that do not belong in any of the availible categories, email me requesting a new category.
